Poker is a game of cards and bets, but it also requires a lot of skill. You must read the other players in the game and change your strategy depending on what they are doing. This is one of the reasons that poker is more than just a game of chance; it\u2019s also a test of, and a window onto human nature.<\/p>\n
To begin, each player buys in with a certain number of chips (representing money) that will be used to make bets. The first player to the left of the dealer puts up a small amount of chips to start the game; this is called the ante. Then, the players place their bets in turn. Each player may choose to fold, call or raise. The player who makes the highest five-card hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
If a hand is weak, it\u2019s best to fold it. This will prevent you from betting a large amount of money at a hand that won\u2019t win. However, if you have a strong hand and bluff, it can pay off big.<\/p>\n
When a player\u2019s hand beats another hand, it\u2019s called a showdown. The winner of the showdown gets all of the money in the pot.
